Thinking further into things.......

I was thinking about fridays lecture today ..... we discussed how some people think there lucky and some unlucky. People who think themselves unlucky are those who are so focussed on this thought that they miss the bigger picture.
For example, we were show an experiment where there was a black t-shirt team of people and a white t-shirt team of people.  We had to count how many times the white team ONLY passed the basketball. There was a man dressed in a monkey suit that came on the screen half way through the experiment. The experiment was nothing to do with the number of passes it was to show how some people are so focussed on the task that they miss other things.
In our lecture the majority of the people who said they were unlucky didn't notice the monkey.  So, is luck just a matter of random chance ?

The Tipping Point Assignment

Over the summer I was asked to read a book called the tipping point by Malcolm Gladwell as part of my preparation into starting a new subject called Design Studies in 2nd year. I enjoyed reading parts of the book and found in the end it was a very worthwhile read.
After attending my first Seminar I was asked to complete 3 tasks and attend the 2nd seminar to complete the first module.

These were;

  1. A mind map of the book
  2. A mind map of a specific section of the book including notes about the sources Gladwell used.
  3. An ANNOTATED bibliography of those sources.
Below you will see tasks 1 and 2 completed, task 3 will be in my next post.
